desolat label boss loco dice is back with what is sure to be a massive autumn package: he has remixed the seminal dance track ‘go’ by the legendary moby, twice, and has made it all his own in the process. moby needs little introduction: the american dance producer and live performer’s albums are classics of the genre that are celebrated far and wide. they have been used on thousands of adverts, have given rise to hit singles all over the world and have made him one of the most celebrated electronic music stars of our time. his ‘go’ track was what started it all for him back in the 90’s, and was a bona fide club classic of the day. it still resonates today and always gets crowds going. now it has been remixed twice by loco dice, who has added his own stamp to it in distinctive fashion. his first excellent version is eight minutes of chunky and tribal drums, with rubber kicks, clipped horn stabs and big hits all building the pressure. those most famous vocal cries really finish it off in style, and ensure that dance floors will go wild whenever it is dropped, as do wonky synths and big piano chords at the breakdown. the second version is more emotive, with big sweeping strings smeared in the background to help make it all the more dramatic, teary eyed and impactful on the floor. this one is for the peak time in any set and is sure to make the most memorable moment of any night. both remixes here pack a real punch, and whilst remaining true to the original, they both sound just like you would expect from modern dance heavyweight loco dice.

a negative hallucination is an idea that was first put forward by sigmund freud in 1890. he used the term to describe how a hypnotised person could be led to be unable to see a person or thing that was right in front of them once out of the hypnotised state, creating a gap in their reality. sadly, this gap in reality seems endemic in the minds of many in the world, whether from lack of access to facts or from wilful ignorance. the result is the same regardless: a world where many oppressed peoples reality is edited out of the conversation. noleian reusse (half of africans with mainframes) and thomas cox (one third of pittsburgh track authority) got together in the studio in pittsburgh during a week of extreme social unrest in the usa in late 2015, resulting in these recordings. the tracks are crafted with a stripped back electronic funk and a stark, relentless feel that reflects the energy in the air at the time. as long time fans of politically and socially charged music like public enemy, underground resistance, nwa, dopplereffekt, and gil scott-heron, noleian and thomas have taken these influences and mixed them with their own styles to come up with a modern dancefloor version of those ideals. lead track solidarity fills the whole a side with its optimism. soulful melodies and strings conquer the driving rhythms, bringing a sense that through sticking together, a better future is possible. the b side s perspective is darker. police state is a crazy raved out banger that combines gritty acid and harsh tones that channel the day-to-day existence for far too many urban people. the third and final cut, surveillance, is a paranoid, spacey techno track that would be ideal as a soundtrack for closed-circuit television video reels. this snapshot of urban life is tied together through artwork by andrew burger, whose mix of throwback style and current ideas nails the dystopian existence that is now reality as predicted so long ago by orwell, huxley, lucas, and many more.

what ever not is the variegated music outlet from experienced dodi palese and dan mela, italian djs and producers supporting, selling, playing and releasing instrumental and dance music for two decades. what ever not tenth record, ‘galegos bar / the ritual’, sees a split release signed by dan mela and marco erroi. label co-founder dan mela inaugurates a new moniker ‘man dela’ for ‘the ritual’ - the original track gets remixed by anton zap, with whom mela already collaborated for a digital release on his own ethereal sound. flipping on the other side, marco erroi, head of common series ltd, continues his production career with ‘xxxv gold fingers’ for the ‘galegos bar’ side – one of the many different aliases he personifies - also contributing by realizing the artwork. ‘galegos bar / the ritual’ offers two sides of the same coin and we can have both things with one stroke. the common denominator is the ethnical ritual. it is fully expressed in the man dela side with deep and hypnotic ride out turned upside down by anton zap with a dynamic electronic waltz. the same item, however, is magically hidden in the xxxv gold fingers side, where we can find it in the form of drink beer and play cards just like in most terrible bars in south of italy.

what s in the du name? 030303 records asked three of their favourite prod ucers with matching names to du an ep together: ann harbour s d marc cantu and mark du mosh & paul du lac, both from the dutch harbour city rotterdam. the result is dynamite! a1-mine motion- is a monsterous jacker in the rawest form how only mr cantu can du! on the b side mark du mosh takes off with a flight to -bermuda- with a hot & steamy roaring electronic beast sitting on the wing of the plane and causing some heavy turbulence. fortunatly du mosh keeps us flying high with some deep emotional synths. last but not least paul du lac delivers a dark psychedelic techtool called -beta rhythm-. a track that creeps under your skin as a virus, causing some serious haziness from noding your head. be aware that this record will appear on vinyl only!

after a tropical storm powered by gaming-vengeance battered the long lost secret island, our young protagonist dj sonikku - ruffled but not deterred, having drifted for months on a bird-nested raft - finds himself landing on the shores of new york city. megadrive chip intact, mates along for the ride, and a half century of electronic heritage soaked up in a flash - all my friends is the culmination of sonikku s mental and spiritual journey into his own version of a hyperreal nyc.

at its core, liminal zones floats through recognisable sonic objects, acoustic voices mimic electronic processing and vice versa, creating a fragile simulacra in constant flux. some elements, like recordings of airflow through huge organ pipes were picked up during an artist residency in stavanger, norway in 2015.

downfall theory embarks on a new chapter as it hosts a full release from a producer other than its owner, sanys. myztical isn’t exactly a newcomer though, and the ukrainian producer has already two releases to his credit on nicz records. given the title of his debut on downfall theory, it is no surprise to learn that myztical is using it as a means to question reality. inspired by the science fiction writer philip k dick and decades of electronic music, he certainly succeeds on venturing into uncharted territories on the title track. muffled, repetitive vocal samples, an atonal rhythm and relentless, slightly distorted kicks show that quite often, simplicity is the most potent ingredient. on “faith of our fathers”, myztical disappears farther down the wormhole. splintered rhythms, deranged howls and a deranged filter push his vision for broken beat techno into the abyss. “substance d” sees the ukrainian hotshot return to a more linear approach, pounding kicks underpin ghostly shrieks before a breakdown sees the track descend into grimy, woody mcbride-style acid. the accompanying vocal sample, the embodiment of a bad trip, only serves to accentuate the track’s darkly hallucinogenic qualities. finally, there’s “shifted realities” - it revisits the jagged filters of “faith of our fathers”, but does so against the backdrop of a pounding industrial kick and a grungy, low-slung rhythm.

after spending the majority of 2009 in hollywood, chanes briefly returned home to finish up songs for what would become his 2010 release, an experimentation in instrumentation. the 15-track tape, presented by house shoes, exposed us all to the nomadic 21-year-old producer from canton, michigan. chanes would spend the next two years working between home and brooklyn, before relocating to arizona, where he would release his follow up project, renegade hands, (insect records 2013). presented again by shoes, hands solidified chanes as one of the most promising young producers in the country.
fast-forward to 2016, and at 27, this self-titled debut takes us circa 2007 - 2009 with the soul-chopping salad days of his mother s basement, through the alternative sampling williamsburg, brooklyn sessions of 2010. if the melancholy desert psychedelia of his isolated four years in perpetual southwestern summer gives us a glimpse into his growing electronic influences, then the angst of his winter homecomings are hiding under the aggressive parka weather beats that first caught the attention of detroit’s underground.
fittingly, chanes’ debut lp comes full circle, finishing the album back in the place it all started and releasing it with long-time supporter house shoes and street corner music.

andrzej nowak is a polish early computer music composer who never found proper place in official contemporary music world. tracks produced between 1987 and 1994 as a score for never screened animation movies (the producer didn’t like them). lines of simple sounds, interrupted by primitive electronic trumpet and other fake instruments. are you sure it’s a film score? what was the thing that producer didn’t like? weird harmonies or too much rhythm?

nice price deal !!! from the beginning, oktored has tried to keep himself away from the pigeonholing nature of the electronic dance scene. seamlessly blending early rave sounds with futuristic beats and melodies, he has really been coming into his own lately. from a young age, he has been into a multitude of different genres of music ranging from ambient to death metal. the next two releases will show just that. the first of which will be the more passive side of oktored.gemini 1 (or the good side) really brings together a feeling of old detroit style techno/house with some new moombahton flavour. the fact that he has been motivated by so many different styles and sounds becomes very apparent on tracks like relax and inéz, while he brings some real deep, future bass styling on the drifter. for fans of future sounds of 8 mile, this release will be a fantastic follow up ep. but that is only one side of our gemini friend. the follow up release, gemini 2 will showcase his darker, more aggressive side. delving into rough, uninhibited bass and beat tracks, oktored will begin to show just how deep his production can go
